KVM over CAT5

Cable management within the cabinet and within the data centre is vital to the efficiency of the cooling system as well as the ability to locate the source of a connectivity problem. Power cabling, network cabling and KVM cabling combined take up a considerable amount of space in the cabinet; potentially hindering air flow. KVM over CAT5 technology allows connectivity to a device’s keyboard, monitor and mouse ports can be done via a single piece of CAT5 cable.

As well as saving space within the cabinet KVM over CAT5 also allows IT managers to utilize existing structured cabling to provide KVM connectivity between cabinets and rooms.

Dongles are used to interface a single RJ45 connector to PS2, USB, Serial and video ports on a device.
